Quick answer: Iraq has two trademark offices. The Trademark Office in Baghdad covers federal Iraq under Trademark Law No. 21 of 1957, and the Kurdistan Region has its own office in Erbil. Since 2026, Kurdistan no longer recognises Baghdad registrations, so brands selling in both areas need two filings. Oppositions can be filed within 90 days of publication.

How to Register a Trademark in Iraq
- Search. We run searches in the relevant register before filing.
- Legalised documents. Prepare a power of attorney legalised up to the Iraqi consulate.
- Filing in Baghdad. The application is filed with the federal Trademark Office for protection in federal Iraq.
