How to Register a Trademark in Saudi Arabia

  1. Search and strategy. We check the SAIP register for identical and similar marks and confirm the right class and specification.
  2. Filing. The application is filed on the SAIP platform and the SAR 1,000 application fee is paid. Foreign applicants file through a registered agent.
  3. Examination. SAIP examines the mark. If it accepts on condition of an amendment, the applicant has 90 days to make it; a short deadline applies to refusals that can be corrected.
  4. Publication. Once accepted, the SAR 500 publication fee is paid and the mark is published.
  5. Opposition period. Third parties have 60 days from publication to oppose.
  6. Registration. The SAR 5,000 registration fee is paid and the certificate is issued.
